The diamond pattern of almonds with toffee drizzled over gives this cake a very luxurious and rich look.

This marble cake has quite bright colours when cut:  Chocolate brown, pink and white make it a fun cake for children.  The spiders are made from chocolate cream and ground almonds whilst the legs used are simply sticks of licorice.

Edible photos are quite popular and an easy way to decorate a birthday cake.  Buttercream was coloured black and used to pipe the web on top and around the sides of the cake.
